The Principles of Lead and Follow
The workshop looks into the fundamental principles of lead and follow. Exercises and coaching are given on the "what", "how" and "why" of lead and follow. A turn pattern is not taught and only a basic Cross Body Lead, Right Turn, Pivot Turn footwork are required elements.
Topics include: Dance frame, connection, arm tone, hook, the importance of lead elbow, body not arm leads, dance distance, plus much more.
The Art and Concepts of Spinning and Turning
A workshop suitable for men and women which is aimed at introducing and improving spinning and turning mechanics. Exercises to develop the basic concepts are given throughout. We examine several styles of spin preparation and discuss their advantages and disadvantages.
Topics include: The concepts of posture, basic preparations, spin initiations, power and balance, diagnosing common problems.
The Fundamentals of Partnering Combinations
This workshop concentrates on the basic turn combination building blocks, what they are and how to lead and follow them well. The workshops also include a look at how to link them together with hand changes, drops and catches. This is not a turn combination workshop but rather a workshop about how to create turn combinations!
Topics include: Crucifix, Inside and Outside Pivot Turns, Copa, Basic Left Turn, Basket Turn, Exchange of Places, Basic Hand changes.
Partnering Combinations, The Next Step
This workshop introduces the concepts of rotations of the couple as a unit along with more unusual ways to lead the fundamental building blocks previously covered.
Topics include: Natural and Reverse Rotations, Rotating Cross Body Lead, advanced leading of pivot turns, advanced leading of Copa turns.
